Laura’s House Celebrates Grand Opening In Aliso Viejo

A ribbon cutting ceremony, facilitated by several members of the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce, officially welcomed the new Laura’s House Domestic Violence Resource Center to the community. On Thursday, September 30th, Mayor Pro Tem Ross Chun, AVCC President Al Soley, and other dignitaries took part in the event to celebrate the new domestic violence center located at 33 Journey in Aliso Viejo.

During the ceremony, Laura’s House board member Wayne Pinnell spoke about the goals of the new facility.

“The central priority and mission of the new Laura’s House Domestic Violence Resource Center is to remove barriers and provide access to critical domestic violence services while creating a one-stop unified resource for domestic violence survivors in Orange County. Surprisingly, with one in three women experiencing domestic violence, one in five men, and one in three adolescents, many of Orange County’s residents require domestic violence services.”

“The increase in non-residential services, such as counseling, group therapy and legal advocacy has increased by 20% over the last few years and we are poised for this to rise significantly. In our first five years at 33 Journey, Laura’s House anticipates serving 90,000 individuals, a 51% increase over current levels.”

Here are some of the key components of the new resource center:

  • Increased therapeutic services
  • Case management to serve clients holistically
  • Community education and prevention workshops
  • Increased level of child services
  • Digital advocacy
  • Collaboration with collocated community providers & partners
  • Health and Wellness programs for anxiety and trauma
