SoCalGas’ roots trace back to 1867 when the Los Angeles Gas Co., the forerunner of SoCalGas, installed 43 new manufactured gas lamps in downtown Los Angeles. Today, SoCalGas is working to deliver a 21st-century energy system that works for all Californians. “We are appreciative and proud to call the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce one of our partners,” said SoCalGas Public Affairs Manager Juan Gonzalez. Here’s what else SoCalGas, AVCC’s Member of the Month, has to say about working in the Aliso Viejo Community.
AVCC: What do you enjoy most about the Aliso Viejo community?
SoCalGas: By far, the warmth of its residents and the picturesque views of the city, especially at sunset. Our employees enjoy heading down to the Aliso Viejo Town Center and taking advantage of eating outside on a patio or grabbing lunch to go and heading to one of the area’s beautiful parks.
AVCC: What is it like working in the Aliso Viejo community?
SoCalGas: SoCalGas is well connected to the Aliso Viejo community – in fact, it’s our home! Our office is right here in Aliso Viejo, housed in one of our vital district operations facilities. From our Aliso Viejo home, we provide customer and pipeline distribution services that fuel all of South Orange County, including our hospitals, restaurants, and residents.
AVCC: How is SoCalGas involved with the community?
SoCalGas: SoCalGas has been involved with the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce in various activities. The most memorable has been the annual induction ceremony for the incoming Board of Directors. It’s always exciting to see business owners, especially young entrepreneurs, looking to contribute and improve the Chamber organization.
We’ve been supporters of the Aliso Viejo Boys and Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley. They provide wonderful recreational opportunities to the youth of our community. We also enjoy partnering with our neighbors down the street, the City of Aliso Viejo. They work with us to mitigate concerns and inform residents about construction projects in the city.
AVCC: How has the AV Chamber helped your business?
SoCalGas: The Chamber has been a great supporter of SoCalGas. We have relied on the Chamber to assist in distributing information to the local community. We are appreciative and proud to call the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce one of our partners.
Looking To The Future
SoCalGas continues to look into the future. Our company is striving to help California reach it’s 2045 greenhouse climate change reduction goals. We understand these goals are vital to the health and wellness of our community and can be met utilizing various clean energy sources and emerging technologies. As such, it is our vision to be the cleanest gas utility in North America by putting 20% renewable natural gas (RNG) in our system by 2030. So, every day, our customers can continue to enjoy that same gas service they know and love – but with an even cleaner, renewable product at an affordable price.
