How long has Sgt. Pepperoni’s been in Aliso Viejo, and what is its claim to fame?
Sgt. Pepperoni’s opened its Aliso Viejo location in July 2020 and, over the years, has been named “Best Pizza in Orange County,” “Best Family Friendly Restaurant in Orange County,” and “Best Food Truck,” by OC Weekly.
How and when did Sgt. Pepperoni’s first start, where was its first location, and how many locations does it currently have?
Sgt. Pepperoni’s has been spreading love one pie at a time since 1976, with roots in Newport Beach, CA. There are currently three locations sprinkled along the Orange County coast in Newport Beach, Aliso Viejo, and Irvine.
What differentiates Sgt. Pepperoni’s pizza and atmosphere from the rest?
Our scratch kitchen and family-first atmosphere, hands down.
Sgt. Pepperoni’s from-scratch kitchen makes fresh dough, pizza sauce and hand-grated cheeses daily, using only the highest-quality ingredients, with our recipes hailing from Long Island, New York.
The store was founded around family, friendship and community and is owned and operated by childhood friends and their families. We also prioritize giving back and regularly hosting fundraisers for local schools, sports teams, Team Kids and Julian’s LEGO® Corner at CHOC Hospital.
What are some of your fan-favorite recipes?
Our Meatball Ricotta Pizza is a true fan favorite, along with our Pizza of the Month. People get excited to come in on the first of the month and try our new pies, typically curated by one of our kitchen managers, our operations director, Jackie, and co-owner Stan Frazier. We also make a savory-sweet Pear & Gorgonzola pizza that’ll make your mouth water!
What do you enjoy about working within the Aliso Viejo community?
We love Aliso! It’s a tight-knit community of like-minded people who care deeply for their neighbors. We fit right in with our peace, love, and pizza mindset, and being tied into the community here constantly motivates us to do more by investing back into it.
How does Sgt. Pepperoni’s get involved with the local Aliso community?
We host in-store fundraisers for groups, sponsor schools and nonprofits with raffle and auction items, and are always attending community events or supporting local businesses. Our staff also makes weekly drop-offs to fire, sherrif’s and civic groups, and recently, we gave free slices to anyone who donated at the blood drive.
How has being an Aliso Viejo Chamber member helped your business?
We’ve benefitted immensely from our AVCC affiliation, simply by being more connected to the Aliso Viejo community. The Chamber hosts great events that we’ve found to be a great use of our time, be it thanks to the networking opportunities or learnings from local professionals. We especially love donating raffle items – it’s so great to see attendees get excited about winning.
Ultimately, we’re grateful for the new friends and guests the Chamber has connected us with, which has helped boost the catering side of our business!
