July Member of the Month: Laguna Treatment Hospital

“We are in the business of healing. By and large, patients arrive in dire need of intensive medical intervention, and discharge in a better state of mind and body as they embark on the path of sobriety and lifelong recovery.” That is what Laguna Treatment Hospital’s CEO Gil Carmona says is the most rewarding part of their work.

American Addiction Centers (AAC) owns and operates The Laguna Treatment Hospital, a premier drug and alcohol detox facility in Orange County. The Laguna Treatment Hostpial is the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commence July Member of the Month. We sat down with the Chief Executive Officer Gil Carmona to discuss the treatment hospital and their experience in the Chamber.

Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce: Gil, tell us a little bit about the Laguna Treatment Hospital.

Gil Carmona: Laguna Treatment Hospital is Orange County’s first chemical dependency recovery hospital.   We provide clinical and support services for adults suffering with drug and/or alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Laguna Treatment Hospital provides all levels of care from medically supervised detox to intensive outpatient therapy. The hospital is also known for its high end, hotel-style rooms, and therapeutic setting.

AVCC: What has been your biggest success in business?

Carmona: In our two years of operation, we have treated over 2000 patients. We specialize in the care for high-risk patients, including those who are medically compromised and require 24/7 medical care.

AVCC: Tell us about your business’ experience in Aliso Viejo and with the Aliso Viejo Community.

Carmona: We aspire to be a good community neighbor and business partner with other stakeholders in this beautiful city. We value our presence in this area and welcome the public to visit and acquaint themselves with our specialized services. Addiction is a chronic and progressive brain disease. Our objective is to inform and educate the public to the epidemic of drug abuse in our society, state and local community.

AVCC: What do you like about being a member of the Chamber?

Carmona: We enjoy being a member of the Chamber as members actively engage and network to support each other and be patrons to one another. Monthly breakfasts, social events, and the annual gala are informative, fun and spirited.

AVCC: How has being a member of the Chamber helped your business?

Carmona: Chamber membership has given Laguna Treatment Hospital the platform to educate our community stakeholders about the treatment of addiction and mental health disorders. The stigma of seeking help is normalized by meeting, socializing, and networking with business owners, city council members and local legislators.
