Mayor Hurt brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role. Elected to Aliso Viejo City Council in 202, he also served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2022, and would later be selected by his colleagues to serve as Aliso’s 2023 Mayor.
As for his career, Richard started at the Riverside County Economic Development Agency, where he learned how to improve residential lives while balancing budgets accordingly. Richard then moved onto the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to further act as a community servant, collaborating with contracted cities to establish public safety measures, before moving to Aliso Viejo.
Throughout his time in Aliso, Richard has volunteered at the library as President of the Friends of Aliso Viejo Librtary Board of Directors, as a coach for Kids run the OC for Don Juan Avila Elementary School, and as a volunteer basketball coach.
