This weekend we are observing both Passover and Easter Sunday, and there’s so much you can do to celebrate your holiday with your loved ones in Aliso Viejo!
But there are some families or individuals who don’t have a lot and are facing adversity this holiday. Aliso Viejo prides itself on being a close community full of compassionate members. Our Chamber Members are well known for being hands-on in providing programs and charities to help the needy.
Here are three ways you can uplift others this holiday weekend:
Volunteer!
In the spirit of the season, you can spread a little kindness to those in need. Teaching your children to help those around you and empower your community is fundamental, and you can lead by example!
The Family Assistance Ministries in San Clemente can be the perfect charitable avenue to get your high school aged child engaged in aiding those less fortunate. With several ways to volunteer, you and your family can give back through any of their food drives, annual Hunger Walks, or even their special Easter Dinner.
Donate!
Come together as a family and give the gift of a good story. This weekend, take a little time out of your holiday celebrations to gather up any lightly used and unwanted books, DVDs, or CDs and donate them to the Friends of the Aliso Viejo Library!
They also gladly welcome any recent textbooks (from the last 10 years) as well as books on CD or tape, and both hardback & paperback books. Please note, before you add any of these to your family’s donation wagon, they do not accept: encyclopedias, magazines, or VHS tapes.
Stories help everyone from all walks of life make meaningful connections. Sharing your favorite book or movie with others who are lacking makes us a stronger and more tightly knit community.
Contribute!
If you don’t have time to get out there and volunteer or bring donations to a center, you can always support local support systems for the children in your community. The Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley has been bolstering the development of the boys and girls of the Aliso/Capistrano Valley area by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, and influence. By making a monetary contribution toward their programs, you’ll enable this amazing organization to further provide services to more children!
Whether you’re excited for a weekend with your family or way to give back and empower your community, our AVCC members are at your service. What are your favorite family activities to help those in need? Let us know in our comment box or on our Facebook page!
