Halloween is just a month away, and the beach cities surrounding Aliso Viejo have plenty of scares in store for Orange County families. Give the kids a healthy lead-up to the 31st with these events in Dana Point, Newport Beach, and San Clemente – and don’t forget to dress up!
Halloween Spooktacular: Dana Point
Take a short trip south to the Dana Point Community Center on October 22 for the city’s annual October event: Halloween Spooktacular. Indoor activities such as a spooky maze, games, crafts, and treats will last from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, while outdoor activities will end at 7:00pm. The Dana Point Police Services Trunk or Treat will be taking place, plus a costume parade for the kids at 6:00pm with prizes for the spookiest contestants.
5th Annual Halloween Spooktacular: Newport Beach
For a similar event in another coastal town, cruise northwest to Newport Beach’s 5th annual Halloween Spooktacular held at Mariners Park! The venue will feature live music, a trunk-or-treat area, haunted maze, carnival games, and most importantly – free entry. Food trucks will be available with proceeds going to Mariners Elementary PTA to support the school. Head to Mariners Park on October 29 between 3:00pm and 6:00pm to catch Newport’s annual Halloween celebration!
Casa Creepy Haunted House: San Clemente
Casa Creepy Haunted House, south Orange County’s “largest family-friendly Halloween attraction,” opens up for three days starting October 27. If you’re a thrill-seeking Halloween enthusiast, walk through this 2.5-acre haunted mansion and encounter all sorts of creepy figures in the Casa Romantica Cultural Center Gardens. Costumes are encouraged, but not costume masks, and the event encourages families with children ages eight and up. Get more details on the Casa Romantica website.
