Event Recap: Soka University’s Annual International Festival

Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce, Soka UniversitySoka University celebrated its 15th Annual International Festival this month and this year’s event was as exciting as ever. The all-day festival celebrates the anniversary of Soka University’s dedication, which took place on May 3, 2001, and reminds each and every one of us how important our heritage is. Attendees were encouraged to dress in international attire and indulge in native cuisine from numerous cultures around the world. It was a day to share the many traditions we hold so dear to our hearts.

The Festival satisfied much more than just our taste buds! The venue included three stages, featuring over 900 musicians and dancers who provided unparalleled entertainment. When guests weren’t taking in the musical talent, they were browsing the art exhibitions, playing games and enjoying the inflatable rides. The festival offered prizes to children who got their festival passport stamped. Shopping is always a must at this event and this year was no exception. There were over 230 exhibitors selling everything from ethnic clothing, handcrafted jewelry, handbags, shoes, and so much more.

The event is a favorite of many Soka University students, many of whom participated in the festivities as volunteers, performers, and student club exhibitors. It was impossible to ignore the incredible pride these students have in their school. And for good reason! Not only does Soka University host this wonderful affair every year, they also donate all the proceeds to the Soka University Education Fund.

The International Festival is a proud partner of Orange County’s Imagination Celebration and is held on the first Saturday of May every year. If you’ve never been, we highly recommend going next year. It’s a day you won’t soon forget!
