Just like many businesses and organizations across Orange County, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley’s Aliso Viejo location was forced to shut their doors on March 13th due to the COVID-19 outbreak. But it didn’t take long for them to devise a new plan for the more than 2,300 Capistrano Valley kids they serve each year.
Within a week, the Boys & Girls Clubs launched their virtual program schedule which offers fitness, art, social recreation and educational classes. These courses were designed to help their members succeed during an uncertain time in our nation’s history.
“Staff members have also implemented a program to recognize outstanding members each week,” according to Executive Director James Littlejohn. One child is selected and recognized for their outstanding leadership, sportsmanship and good character; all qualities exemplified by the organization that was established all the way back in 1860.
