AVCC April Member of the Month: Capstone Federal Credit Union

During this time of crisis, it is especially important to celebrate those who make an impact on our community and strive to help others.

Our Chamber Member of the Month, Capstone Federal Credit Union, is a federally insured, member-owned financial cooperative with the purpose of serving members by providing savings, loans, and other services in a convenient, equitable, and competitive manner. At Capstone Federal Credit Union, their core responsibility is to actively serve their members and the communities they live in whenever possible. You’ll be treated with the respect you deserve and be assured of rock-solid dependability and accurate information from their highly trained staff.

We asked the April Member of the Month’s President Candice Landeros a few questions about Capstone Federal Credit Union:

AVCC: When did Capstone Federal Credit Union open in Aliso Viejo, and how has the experience been?

Capstone FCU was originally named Fluor Federal Credit Union, and we moved to Aliso Viejo in June of 1999.  We were established in April of 1953 and have been in the community for 21 years.

AVCC: What do you enjoy about the Aliso Viejo/Laguna Niguel Community?

The willingness to help.  We are founded on “people helping people,” so the fit is perfect.

AVCC: How does Capstone Federal Credit Union engage with the Aliso Viejo Community?

Right now, we are employer-based for employers to give their employees the ability to join Capstone FCU.  We support local businesses and schools by investing in their causes.  In the end, we want to help people have a better way of banking and to be in better financial health.

AVCC: When did you join the AV Chamber?

We have been involved with the Chamber since we started in Aliso Viejo back in 1999-2010, although there was a change in management, and we lost our connection.  Since I have been in the President capacity, we have been a member again since 2016.

AVCC: Tell us about your experience with the Chamber?

It is always a pleasure to be involved with the Chamber.  We recognize the value of the Chamber and its involvement with the community and the support it gives.  We strive for the same thing, the commitment to be here for the people.

AVCC: How has being a member of the Chamber helped your business?

We continue to talk to local businesses about joining Capstone FCU to give their employees access to better banking.  What we want is to help Aliso Viejo grow, Capstone FCU to grow, and we believe we can do this together.  Supporting local businesses and being here is key.

AVCC: Any other comments or promotions that you’d like to share about Capstone Federal Credit Union?

As always, we are the best rate in town! We have great products and services, and we want to be able to serve the Aliso Viejo community.  We want a partnership with an association in Aliso Viejo to be able to serve all in OUR community.
