“When life places stones in your path, be the water. A persistent drop of water will wear away even the hardest stone.”
Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce member Bill Moorhead started May’s AVCC Networking Breakfast with an inspirational quote about our ability to move forward despite the many setbacks we’ve experienced over the past year. Aliso Viejo Mayor Pro Tem Ross Chun also shared an inspirational message with the group.
In honor of Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Chun – a Hawai’i native – put together a video for students in the Capistrano Unified School District. The short presentation featured Asian-American business professionals from around Orange County. Each speaker said hello and delivered a short message in languages from across the globe. The video was created to encourage students to be proud of their unique heritage and to cultivate conversations about the importance of diversity and culture.
The Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce also welcomed three new members this month. They include:
- Susan Akroush with AL’s Chop Shop. AL’s is a cash-only barber shop that offers haircuts, razor fades, buzz cuts and kids cuts in Aliso Viejo.
- Jeremy Webb of Webb’s Grainworks. This up and coming Aliso Viejo business will become a distillery, brewery and restaurant. You can learn more about Webb’s Grainworks on their Instagram page or YouTube channel.
- Andrea McCallister of Laura’s House. The non-profit provides domestic violence-related services to people in Orange County. In the past 24 years, Laura’s House has provided shelter and supportive services to more than 5,000 abused women, men and children and counseling, life skills education and legal advocacy to over 55,000 persons.
