This weekend is Universal Children’s Day and Family Volunteer Day! In light of the Thanksgiving season, we have compiled a list of Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce Members that offer volunteer opportunities for you to give back to the Community. There is much to be thankful for this season, and the bright future of our children is one of them! The Aliso Viejo Chamber is proud of the work these members are doing towards establishing resources for children and their families in the Orange County area.
Special Needs + Ministry
The Compass Bible Church has many volunteer opportunities where you can work with kids. If you have a passion for ministry or special needs children, consider volunteering for Compass Friends! Compass Bible Church encourages individuals to use their time, talents, and abilities to serve God and the church.
Education
If you are passionate about public education, Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce Member, Capistrano Unified School District , may have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! From clerical assistance to support for extracurricular programs, the district is always in need of volunteers. There are also volunteer opportunities in the district’s sports programs or tutoring.
Situations of abuse
This holiday season can be difficult for families in situations of abuse. Domestic violence is known to spike during the holidays. Chamber Members Laura’s House and the Children and Family Life Center support families in crises of abuse.
Children and Family Life Center’s mission is to provide safety, comfort, and healing to children suffering abuse and abandonment. While not everyone can foster a child in need, there are many ways you can still help out. Fulfill a child’s Christmas wish list with a gift donation or help with this year’s toy drive.
Lauras House, a local women’s shelter and Aliso Viejo Chamber member, has tons of creative ways you can get involved. Participate in “social giving” by supporting and engaging with their social campaign online. You can sign up for Life Style of Giving and give back with every purchase you make at no cost. You can attend or create an event, volunteer or sign up for planned giving. Laura’s House provides many easy and effective ways to champion local women and children in situations of distress.
Fun
If you’re looking for a more light-hearted way to participate in Universal Children’s Day or National Family Volunteering Day this season of giving, the Boys & Girls Club may be the opportunity for you! There is something for everyone at the Boys & girls clubs with programs covering almost every interest from legos to the nature club. Find a hobby that interests you and get involved! This is a perfect way to have a little fun while giving back to the Aliso Viejo Community.
