“Happiness isn’t a conditional state; it’s a state of being.”
Eric Hauber, Treasurer at the Aliso Viejo Community Foundation, started Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce’s March Monthly Networking Breakfast with those inspirational words. Hauber shared an old Cherokee Legend, titled “Two Wolves.” It’s a story about a grandfather explaining to his grandson the internal battle that can live within us all. While one wolf is evil and the other is good, the wolf that ultimately wins is the one you choose to feed.
Guest Speaker Liz Travieso also talked about the importance of choosing the right path. Travieso owns TLP Education in Aliso Viejo. T-L-P stands for tutoring, language, and preparation. Since opening in 2012, the business has grown and now offers language instruction, private tutoring, and college prep courses.
Travieso shared an inspirational story about the importance of never losing the passion for learning. While her classes range from preschool to adult levels, it’s her oldest student (age 78) that’s taken on the challenge of studying a new language. “Learning is different as an adult,” said Travieso. “Think of a table full of clutter; that’s the adult brain. But once we start organizing the stuff on the table(your brain), it makes it much easier to find things.” Travieso reiterated, it just comes down to choosing the path that’s right for you.
