As you’ve heard in the past, the mission of the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce is to “encourage economic prosperity within the community and be an effective bridge between its businesses and the city.” With that in mind, it’s been an extremely heartbreaking experience to watch our local businesses and community members struggle to get through these past few weeks.
On Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an Executive Order that could help some of our local businesses see some relief. The order provides a 90-day extension for state and local taxes, including sales tax and licensing extensions for businesses in the State of California.
The executive order allows the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration to offer a 90-day extension for tax returns and tax payments for all businesses filing a return for less than $1 million in taxes. That means that small businesses will have until the end of July to file their first-quarter returns. Additionally, the order extends the statute of limitations to file a claim for refund by 60 days to accommodate tax and fee payers.
In accordance with California’s “stay at home” orders, the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce has canceled all events in the month of April. Those include:
- Aliso Viejo Networking Breakfast – April 14th
- Aliso Viejo After Hours – April 22nd
- State of the City – April 2nd (In lieu of the event, the video will be broadcast during the
City Council meeting on April 15th, beginning at 7:00 pm. The meeting will be broadcast live on Cox Communications Channel 851 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, and live-streamed at AVCity.org).
We will keep you updated once we go back to our normal calendar of events.
